6 Productivity & Wellness Tips For Remote Teams

Remote Worker on Laptop

Working remotely has its perks—but staying connected and energized takes intention. At Worxbee, we believe productivity and wellness go hand in hand. When people feel their best, they do their best work. That’s why we’ve built small but intentional habits into our team culture that support both. Here are 6 productivity and wellness tips the Worxbee team uses to stay grounded, focused, and connected.

1. Move Your Body, Boost Your Focus

Have you heard of “exercise snacks”? They’re short bursts of movement—30 seconds to 5 minutes—sprinkled throughout the day to boost energy, focus, and overall health. This article from CNN breaks down how powerful these micro-workouts can be.

At Worxbee, we’ve fully embraced the concept. Several of our team members are trying out doing 10 squats every 45 minutes. A small act with big impact. A study published in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports found that these brief squat breaks can significantly reduce blood sugar spikes and improve metabolic health—potentially even more effectively than a single 30-minute walk.

Another team member aims for two 20-minute walks each day—to clear her mind, reduce stress, and return to work with renewed focus.

Whether it’s a quick walk or a set of squats, we encourage each other to step away from the screen. It’s part exercise, part reset—and it works.

2. Read Together, Grow Together

Each quarter, the Worxbee team picks a book to read together. It’s a simple habit that sparks reflection, shared language, and continuous growth.

This quarter, we’re reading Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ—a topic that’s central to how we vet and select the Executive Assistants in our network. Why? Because great Executive Assistants don’t just complete tasks—they understand tone, anticipate needs, and manage complexity with empathy.

These team reads help us stay aligned and inspired, while reinforcing what we value in every Virtual Executive Assistant we bring into our network.

3. Protect Time for Deep Work

At Worxbee, we’ve designated one day each week as a team Focus Day. No meetings. No Slack pings. No interruptions. Just protected time to get into flow and focus on what matters most.

In a world of constant notifications and shifting priorities, giving your team space to think deeply is one of the best productivity tools around. It’s a practice we use ourselves—and one our Executive Assistants help protect for clients every day. Whether it’s blocking off time on the calendar or shielding against distractions, deep work doesn’t happen by accident. It’s created intentionally.

4. Stay Social With a Virtual Watercooler

Remote work doesn’t have to feel isolating. Our #WorxbeeWatercooler Slack channel keeps us connected beyond tasks and to-do lists.

From weekend plans and personal wins to favorite recipes and funny memes, it’s our go-to space for casual conversation. These small, everyday interactions help build trust, boost morale, and remind us we’re more than just coworkers—we’re a team.

5. Take a Team 4-Day Weekend Every Month

Time off only feels restorative when everyone’s unplugged. At Worxbee, we take a 4-day weekend every month—together. That means no emails, no meetings, and no catching up on what you missed.

By stepping away as a full team, we create space for real rest. The result? We return clearer, calmer, and ready to focus.

6. Celebrate Good Things—Big and Small

At Worxbee, we celebrate wins often—and in all kinds of ways.

We start every team meeting with “Good Things,” where each person shares one personal and one professional win. It sets a positive tone, reinforces gratitude, and reminds us that progress is always worth celebrating.

We also celebrate in real time. Whether it’s feedback from a happy client, welcoming a new Executive Assistant, or someone’s birthday, we make a point to celebrate it. Our Slack is full of emojis and quick shoutouts—not to check a culture box, but because we genuinely believe in recognizing wins. It creates momentum, boosts morale, and reminds us that the work we’re doing matters.

Small Rituals, Big Impact

Remote teams can absolutely thrive—with the right habits. At Worxbee, we’ve found that small, consistent rituals help us stay connected, energized, and focused.

If you’re looking to boost wellness and productivity in your own workplace, try starting with just one or two of these ideas. You might be surprised how far a few intentional shifts can go.
